Key Projects

City of Vernon:
The city of Vernon is the home to several industries, including food and agriculture, apparel, steel, plastics, logistics and home furnishings. It also maintains strong philanthropic ties with the neighboring communities where much its workforce lives, providing significant financial support for public services like health care and education.

Vernon CommUNITY Fund provides charitable contributions to community-based organizations and governmental agencies in support of efforts to improve the quality of life, strengthen families and affirm Vernon’s ties with neighboring communities.


Los Angeles Council District 8:
Council District 8 encompasses parts of South Los Angeles and spawns from Baldwin Hills to the border of Watts. Neighborhoods include Vermont Knolls, King Estates, Canterbury Knolls, Park Mesa Heights, Baldwin Hills, Hyde Park, Chesterfield Square, Vermont Vista, Green Meadows, View Heights and West Park Terrace. It is currently represented by Councilmember Margueece Harris-Dawson.

Community-Based Organization Grant Fund Council District 8 established the Community Based Organization Grant Fund to enhance and complement funding available to non-profits located in the district. The fund is focused towards non-profit organizations with modest budgets that benefit residents in CD8.


Conrad N. Hilton Foundation:
In honor of its founder, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation is dedicated to philanthropic support in several key areas of society. In South Los Angeles, the foundation collaborates with community advocates, nonprofits, city, county, state, other foundations and the private sector to identify solutions to chronic homelessness.
